The Model 1152, 1153 and 1150 conductivity meters are used to perform the tests detailed in ASTM Standard Test Method D2624. This standard covers the determination of the electrical conductivity of aviation and distillate fuels with and without a static dissipator additive. Readings are in picosiemens per metre in a variety of ranges from 1 to 2000. Ranges up to 2M picosiemens per metre are also available. The Model 1152 and 1153 are portable, self contained instruments. The Model 1150 is designed for fixed in line continuous measurement in a fuel distribution system and can also inject additives.
These tests are critical to the safe handling of explosive liquids. If the electrical conductivity is sufficiently high as determined by the instruments, electrical charges dissipate fast enough to prevent a dangerous accumulation of static electricity in the fuel. If the electrical conductivity of the fuel is relatively low, the static charges accumulate and can lead to an explosion or fire.
Emcee has been a leader for over 50 years in the development and manufacture of complex instruments used in the above industries. We are the primary supplier of instruments used for the ASTM tests. Our instruments have earned an excellent reputation for durability, reliability, and accuracy. All parts and components are manufactured and assembled at our sole plant in Venice, Fl. In addition we provide service worldwide through our factory and dealer locations. These instruments have received both domestic and foreign approvals as being intrinsically safe for use in hazardous environments.
The Model 1154 precision meter is used to perform the tests detailed in ASTM Standard Test Method D4308. This standard covers the determination of the electrical conductivity of aviation and distillate fuels in a wider range (than Models 1152 or 1153) from 0.1 to 20,000. picosiemens per metre. Ranges up to 2M picosiemens per metre are also available. This instrument is designed for precise measurements in a lab setting but can also be used in the field.
