Ensuring Safety in Conductivity Measurement

A key component to achieving the highest level of safety in conductivity measurement of explosive liquids is understanding the significance of the UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certification.
Compliance with UL standards involves careful consideration of component selection, instrument design, power and wiring requirements, and the incorporation of overload protection and intrinsically safe barriers.
UL standards are so stringent that even spacing, paint, adhesives, solder, and fasteners must meet UL safety criteria.
All the conductivity instruments (handheld, and inline) manufactured by Emcee Electronics Inc have received the UL mark demonstrating compliance with rigorous safety standards. The UL mark for the laboratory Model 1154 Precision meter is pending.
Products on the market described as “intended for use in hazardous locations” “certified to build equipment for hazardous areas” or “manufactured for use in an explosive environment” are inadequate and do not meet the UL safety standards.
