The same Micro-Separometer can be used to perform several ASTM test methods on relevant fuels.
D3948 is a water separation test and is used to detect the presence of surfactants in aviation turbine fuel and is referenced in ASTM Specifications D1655, D6615, and D7566. View Test References PDF
D7224 is also a water separation test in aviation turbine fuel with additives and used to detect the presence of surfactants. View Test References PDF
D7261 is used to detect the presence of surfactants in diesel and biodiesel fuels.
D4860 is used to generate a numerical reading of the clear and bright quality of aviation or diesel fuel.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The critical variable in performing the above tests is the use of the correct Emcee coalescer cell. The Alumicel Coalescer must be used for D3948, the M Cell Coalescer for D7224, either the D or DB Coalescer for D7261, and the Clear and Bright Coalescer for D4860.
