In using our Model 1140 Micro- Separometer for use in accordance with ASTM methods D3948, D7224, and D7261, 50 µL of distilled water is to be added to 50 mL of fuel sample. These proportions are critical to achieve an accurate MSEP test. Our Model 1140 comes equipped with a 50 µL precision pipette for this purpose. The included pipette has been calibrated to be accurate to ±0.7%, and comes with a calibration certificate assuring the calibration for up to one (1) year. The pipette can be sent to us for recalibration at any time.
We have also noticed that the tip or the plunger of the pipette can unscrew from the body after heavy use. This will also result in inaccurate test results.
In addition, it has come to our attention that some users of our Model 1140 use OTHER pipettes. We again caution you to make sure your pipette is properly calibrated to achieve accurate test results.
